Thankful Thursday - Drudgery Or An Opportunity For Gratitude?

It's time to pay the bills and do the taxes. There was a time, not so long ago, when these "chores" would really get me down. Lets face it, when money is scarce, and the bills are sitting on the table giving you the ole stink-eye, it's easy to allow it to get you down. Am I right? Well, no more, I tell you. In my quest for "happy", I have decided to look at it from another angle. How about this:

~I'm happy that I have the money to pay all these bills.
~I'm grateful for all the pretty security envelopes I am collecting.
~I'm so happy to have my own business, and for the opportunity to take a really good look at it.
~I am very, very thankful for the sales that have created some of this paperwork.

OK, your turn, do you have any "chores" that you could turn into an opportunity for gratitude. I'd love to hear about them!

That's a great way to look at those things!

Hmm, chores that make me grateful...I'd have to say all housework; I feel grateful to have a warm house to live in. :)

Now that's what I'm talkin' about Rose. I am going to adopt that one too. A great perspective! Thanks

What a great perspective! I need a little more of that in my day.

I'm grateful for finally finding a painter for my remodel I can actually afford. And grateful I didn't give up.

I think this is a good time to share something I've been thinking about for a few weeks now. A chore I must do for my online teaching duties is to update the class calendar at the beginning of each new session. Each session is 5 weeks long with 4 due dates in each week which must be written into the class calendar. The job is generally tedious and uninteresting, but since the beginning of January I have been using the most lovely calendar pages to refer to for my dates! It is the Gilding Lilies calendar made by my very own Jennifer Lorton!

At first, I didn't understand why she put a photo of bees in for January and I really wanted to demand a reason why. I mean, we don't see bees in January in most parts of the country because they are dormant then. But the more this lovely golden picture (hanging right beside me on my computer tower) was in my vision, the more I grew to love and value it! It's rich summery colors warm me up on these frigid winter mornings. And the precious bees, so industrious, so necessary to the health of our entire planet are just such an inspiration!

Thank you Jenny! Thank you for whatever possessed you to put bees in January! It makes me grateful to do my computer chores every day.

And that is exactly why I put that picture in January. I'm glad it's working. It just seemed like an up-lifting happy picture, and symbolic of a fresh start.
You aren't the only one that questioned the logic behing bee's in January. I'm so happy to hear that the calender is bringing you some joy.
I love you Nalls.
