Sea Of Life

Well kids, do you feel like I've abandoned you? My entire life has been taken over by wedding season. I'm trying to restructure things a bit, and hopefully it will lighten my load. Lately, I've felt like this little boat, being swept along, by the sea of life. Thankfully I enjoy the work, or it would be a complete shipwreck.
I hope all of you are doing well. I miss you.

Lilacs

Out in the yard is a tall lilac tree/bush, and at the tippy-top of the tree (where I couldn't reach them) these beautiful lilacs were blooming. I'd sit on the couch and look out the window longing to pick and sniff them. They were mocking me! This went on for a few days. Then one afternoon, my daughter and I were sitting out on the deck, and I told her about how cruel the lilacs were being. She said that if we worked as a team we might be able to get them. She carefully bent the limbs, I reached up high, and together, I was able to get  my hands on these lovelies. I was thrilled! I've been thoroughly enjoying them ever since. The light shining through them is enchanting, and I have taken countless photos. Here are just a few. You can see why I wanted them so badly, right?

Fowl On A Friday

Recently, we stopped at a little roadside farm to pick up some fresh veggies. We got leeks, chard, spring onions, and a couple variety of kale. They also had a commercial kitchen where they made jam, jelly, and butters. We picked up a persimmon and cinnamon butter that is delicious! I've been using it to make peanut butter and jelly/butter sandwiches. It's really a treat. While we were waiting for our veggies we had a nice visit, and photo shot,  with their chickens. They had a whole bunch of them. So, I thought for a change, I'd share some fowl on a Friday. Have a nice weekend everybody.

Flowers On A Friday - Wedding Flowers

Sorry, I've been neglecting the ole blog a bit lately. I have been swamped with wedding-flower work. I thought I'd share some show-and-tell. Here are a couple of the bouquets I've been working on.

 Have a nice weekend everybody!

My Coworker

This is the sight I see whenever I work on the computer. Nessa (AKA Miss Mouse) loves to sit right next to me and watch me work.We have had more than one discussion about tails on the keyboard. Her favorite job is supervising the printer. She loves to watch the sheets of paper make their way through this office favorite. She is one of the most dedicated coworkers I've ever worked with.

Playing With Images - Touch The Sky

So, I've been playing with more images that have been hanging around in my camera. I thought you'd find it interesting to see the before's, and after, image. The before images:

Sort of an interesting beginning, with a long way to go. After a bunch of Photoshop magic, and some fancy layering:
I call it Touch The Sky. I'm pretty happy with it. I like the message, and I think the image works pretty well too.

A Bit Distracted

I've been a bit distracted. My sweet little Abby dog is having some sort of "neurological episode". She was running around one minute, she suddenly stopped, and then fell over onto her side. Really scary. After that, her back-end went crazy. When she's able to walk she goes all crooked, and then she falls over. One of her eyes is unresponsive to light. The front half of her seems to work just fine. It's really sad to see this vibrant, playful little dog, in this state. Today, she is having a good day, and I'm feeling hopeful that she will get over this. Unfortunately, her status seems to go up and down. If you would send some good, happy thoughts in Abby's direction I sure would appreciate it.

Playing With Images

I've been playing with some images that have been hanging around, in my camera, for awhile now. They were kind of interesting, but before some Photoshop magic they were a bit on the blah side. Both of these photos were taken at the location of the Mad Hatters Tea Party wedding that I worked on. The garden gate photo from the other day was from that day too. That spot was ripe with photo opportunities. There are a least a couple more shots that deserve a second look, and a little play time.
I'm really happy with the truck with rose petals photograph. I think it would make a great book cover. I'm just putting that thought out there. A couple of my other photographs have been used as book covers, so you never know. I'm imagining a Nicholas Sparks novel. What do you think?

Flower Shortage

Flowers are a bit hard to find at this time of year, so instead, I decided to share this beautiful garden gate. I love how moody, mysterious, and magical it looks. The mist and the tall grass seems to invite, and discourage, exploration all at the same time.
Have a magical weekend everybody.

On This Friday Morning

This is the scene I woke up to this morning. Wow, this place is so beautiful! And just when I'm sure I'm in paradise, I go to take a shower and find my shampoo frozen, and stuck in the bottle. Man, that "outhouse" is cold! OK, it's not truly an outhouse, it does have real plumbing, but the roof is made of that corrugated plastic stuff. All the better to enjoy the outdoors, right?  Brrrr.
As long as there are sights like this to see, it's worth it!

Floating Through Life

This photo just sort of sums up how I've been feeling lately. Do I need to explain? I'm hoping, as they say, one picture speaks a thousand words.

Flowers On A Friday - Groovy Roses

How amazing are these roses? They are real roses that they somehow dyed rainbow colors. I thought they were plastic, until I got up close to them. Very fun.
