They Draw And Cook

I'm home, and I have some fun news to share. I'm a huge fan of the blog The Draw and Cook, and a short while ago I submitted a recipe, with crossed fingers. I received an email from the very talented Nate Padavick, informing me that my recipe for Forbidden Rice Pudding is up on the blog, yippeeee! Please go and check it out (it's much larger over there), it's such a fun site, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Thanks so much Nate, it's an honor. And, to new folks that stop by, welcome.

Texas Is Hot!

I'm here in Dallas, walking my feet off. If you've even been to one of these shows you'll know just what I mean. Woo, the dogs are tired! This is where I would ordinarily insert a sad picture of my feet. Unfortunately, pictures will have to wait till I get home. It's also hot here, this coastal girl isn't used to it. I haven't been to Texas in a long time, and I'm stuck by all the beautiful architecture this city has to offer. I'm getting so inspired by all the things I'm seeing at the show, and hopefully I'm making some good business connections.
Well, I'm off to do some more walkin', come along lil' doggies, time to go, again.

Flowers On A Friday - And Some News

Yeah, my computer is working again! Here's a little fuchsia to brighten your evening. Tomorrow, I'm off to Dallas Texas to attend the big wholesale gift mart. Hopefully, I will make some great connections, that will lead to big ole orders. Wish me luck, please. Have a great weekend.

So sad, something wicked has attacked my computer. I miss it so much. It's in the shop, and will hopefully return very soon.

Meatless Monday - Drizzle

Here's another of those double duty posts. Today's prompt at Creativity Boot Camp is "drizzle". It's also Meatless Monday time so I decided to show a recipe that you can drizzle. This versatile sauce is a classic in the vegan and veggie community. It's been around, in one form or another, for ages. I became a vegetarian when I was twelve (which was not just yesterday) and it was popular back then. When my daughter was little I could get her to eat almost any veggie as long as she could dunk it in this yummy sauce. It's such an old friend that it acquired a nick name, Nooch (short for Nutritional Yeast Sauce). It also goes by the name Cheezy Sauce. This name worries me though, because I think it puts unfair expectations on this sauce. I'll tell you the truth, it's not cheese sauce, never has been, never will be, it's Nooch, and it's good stuff. So here it is, enjoy.

Nooch Sauce

2 cups water
1/4 cup flour
1 tbsp canola oil
1/8 tsp minced garlic
salt and pepper, to taste
1/8 tsp turmeric
a slight squeeze of lemon juice
1 tsp mustard
3/4 cup nutritional yeast flakes

Combine all the ingredients, except the yeast, in a saucepan. Stir vigorously with a wisk to break up any lumps. Cook over medium/low heat, stirring often, until the mixture thickens. Stir in the yeast, and wisk until smooth. That's it, now feel free to drizzle it on countless things, you'll be amazed by it's versatility.

Timmy, The New Garden Ornament

I was just given this fantastic new garden ornament. I named it Timmy, after the beloved goat I had as a kid. I think it is so sweet, look at the grin on it's face, awww. And is it totally naughty that the part that makes me giggle the most is the fact that it is anatomically correct?
                                                                                                                  Thanks.

Serendipity

Today's prompt is "fly". Coincidentally, I spent the morning at a kite festival, taking pictures.

Growth

Maybe it's just me, but I doubt it. I feel like I spent so much of my youth trying to get people to like/love me. Trying desperately to fit in, especially during those dreaded teen years. With age, it matters less to me all the time. Don't get me wrong, I still want you to like me, but I'm not willing to be a chameleon to achieve it. Growth - today's prompt.

Heavy Metal

A nasty cold bug has a grip on me. I couldn't even drag myself to the computer yesterday. I made it today, but just barely. I love these random keys on a side street in San Francisco. Today's Boot Camp prompt was "heavy metal".

Flowers On A Friday - Peony

Water It, Care For It, And It Will Grow

I am workin' this business! I feel like I'm nurturing it around the clock; I even dream of  ways to get the cards out into the world. I can't wait to see how it will grow! Anybody out there know an appropriate fertilizer for greeting cards?

Welcome To My Brain

I sometimes say that blogging is a "welcome to my brain" sort of activity. So, for whatever it's worth, welcome, come on in and have a look around. Here are a couple of short video's that made me giggle and go awwwww.

Isn't Mr. Wind the sweetest? And I love the mother panda, too funny.
