Meatless Monday - Orach With Pesto Cream

Orach is a red leaf veggie that is very similar to spinach. I've never seen it at the grocery store but it can readily be found at local farmers markets. This evening I took a bunch of orach and lightly sauteed it. At the last moment I added some vegan pesto and soy cream and tossed it around. It couldn't have been easier but boy was it delicious! I think it would be wonderful served on top of gnochi (Italian potato dumplings), and I think they might turn a pretty shade of pink.

Flowers On A Friday - Lo-Mob Style

So, I have a new obsession. I am having a love affair with my new iPhone. More specifically, its camera, and the cool apps that are available. Yesterday I got the Lo-Mob app. Crazy fun! I took a quick shot of a little daisy in my yard, and here is a small sampling of the things that the Lo-Mob did with it.

Retro wonderful! I Love it! How is a girl supposed to choose? The amazing part is, I didn't do anything, no Photoshop magic, just snapped a picture. I'm warning you now, this will probably not be the last time you will hear about my new toy. Swoon...

Thankful Thursday - Together, But Not

This is the view of my daughters (she is almost 21 years old) cabin from my deck. Isn't is wonderful? She is close enough that we can visit anytime, but I have a place all my own. Every time I walk into her messy cabin I'm so thankful. We are very tight with one another, and this situation couldn't be more perfect for both of us. Hooray for multiple cabins!
What are you feeling thankful for this week?

Flowers On A Friday - Botanical Confetti

Lavender Fields Botanical Confetti Blend

Woodland Petal Confetti Blend

Harvest Blend Petal Confetti

Lately, I've been making these Petal Confetti and Botanical Confetti mixes. Primarily they are for tossing at wedding (instead of rice). I think they are so pretty, and  Lavender Fields smells amazing! The mini pumpkins are really sweet in the Harvest Blend. It can be so fun to play with flowers!

Happy weekend everybody. For all the locals I will be doing some demonstrations today at the Botanical Garden's Over The Garden Fence Event - please stop by if you can.

Thankful Thursday - Laundry Parties

This is on of those lemon's into lemonade sort of deals. My new place doesn't have an area for a washer and drier so I had to get rid of my machines when I moved. I have to admit this is sort of a bummer. However, I am making the best of it. My buddy Kathryn, and I, have started having "laundry parties". OK, there might not be cake or noise makers involved, but it has turned into a really nice opportunity to stay in touch with a good friend. Our clothes swoosh and fluff around in the machines and we sit around and talk about all the stuff going on in our lives. It's a pretty lovely ritual, and I'm very thankful to have it. It really softened the blow of having to return to Lucy's.

Flowers On A Friday - Rustic Woodland Boutonnieres

This morning I was making a bunch of these Rustic Woodland Boutonnieres for a wedding I'm working on. I think they are a nice handsome alternative to a "girlie" flower.
Happy weekend.

Meatless Monday - Happy 4th Of July

Summer Watermelon Photo Available Here

Happy 4th Of July Everybody! I hope you are all having a good one. I just sliced open a nice juicy watermelon. Nothing says summer like a watermelon. I bought some El Mexicano Pico Limon Hot Seasoning For Fruits at the Mexican food store. It's made of mixed hot peppers, salt, and lime juice. It adds a brightness and a little kick to the flavor to the watermelon.
Have fun!
