Meatless Monday - Late Night Snack

This one almost didn't make it before Monday was over, so I had to go with a late night snack theme. Enjoy!

All In A Row

Maybe it's the impending change in season, or maybe it's the number of changes in my life lately, but I am feeling a strong desire to get all my ducks (apples, people, cards, etc) in a row. I know I'm not alone in this, Shutter Sisters mentioned it too. My organizing, and nesting, urges are really kicking in. I want everything to be nice and orderly, and ready for cozying-up in autumn. I can't wait to drive through brightly colored, crunchy leaves. Am I rushing? I can't help it, fall is my favorite time of year.

Power In Numbers

I went to the beach, and took pictures of my parasol on the sand. I was hoping for something amazing, but instead they were rather lackluster. When I returned home, and looked at them on the computer, I was still disappointed. However, as I was looking at all the little thumbnail sized photos, I realized that as a group they were rather interesting. So, after a bit of doctoring, here they are amass. I hope you like them too.

Butterfly & Dandelion Part 2

Well, it didn't become a tile pendent, yet, but I did create a necklace from the artwork I shared the other day. I printed it out and applied a thick coat of resin. While I had the resin mixed up I coated some vintage dictionary pages too. Put it all together, add some beads, and you have a pendent to hang on a necklace. I look forward to wearing it. Hmmmm, now to figure out the right outfit to go with it...

I may make more, maybe a tile next time, to put in the new Gilding Lilies Etsy Store. We'll see. By the way, did you notice the link to the store in the sidebar? More on the new store soon.

Butterfly & Dandelion

I created this piece today. I'm not certain what I will do with it. I'm doing an experiment that would incorporate this image into a piece of jewelry. I'm not sure if it will work, but if it does, I will definitely share it with all of you. Any feedback?

Twilight Fan

No, not that one, I mean the time of day. I love to take pictures at twilight. Everything gets this beautiful glow.

This photo was taken, down in Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg, CA., just before the sun went down. Ah, twilight, such a beautiful time of day.

The Dress (Part 2)

I've done a bit more work on The Dress. I've repainted some of it a couple times - let's think of it as layering, OK?

Chick'n & the Big Chicken

Looks good, right? Well, it is. Super easy, I often have it for lunch. OK, that covers the Chick'n part of the story. Now, for the Big Chicken part. I agreed to participate in a challenge, the deal was to ask a strange if you could take their picture, and then post the portrait on the blog today. Well, you might notice that there isn't a portrait in today's post. I wandered around this weekend, camera in hand, and failed to have the courage to ask a single stranger if I could take their picture. I was going to cheat and put up a picture of a friend (one that doesn't have Internet access, of course) but I decided to fess up. I couldn't do it! I really wanted to, but I'm a Big Chicken! I learned a lot about myself (and my neuroses), and I gained a huge appreciation for the people that can do it, and I now know an area of personal growth to work on. No wonder I hate going to holiday parties! I'm going to work on this, and if I make any progress I will let you know. In the meantime, sorry to anybody that stopped by here to see a fantastic portrait, try the salad instead.

Ethereal

Today's prompt over on Creative Sunday is "ethereal". I think this is the perfect photo for that prompt. This is the photo straight from the camera, no Photoshop trickery here. It's a photo of a reflective sculpture, in Chicago, with the actual sky on the left side of the photo. Beautiful right? I could have gazed into that sculpture all day, it's magnificent!

A Visitor In The Yard

This fella has been hanging around in the yard lately, isn't he glorious?! I was finally able to snap a picture of him. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to photograph the rest of the family. The fawns look so sweet.

Art In The Gardens

Hello local folks, this one is for you. I will be at Art In The Gardens today, showing and selling my wears. I will also be working on my new 3-D dress piece. So, if you are in the area (Fort Bragg, CA) please stop by and say hi. Hope to see you there, it should be a great day (if you enjoy fog, which I do).

All these mushies were photographed at the Botanical Garden

Work In Progress - Dress (part 1)

Here are some shots of the project that I am currently working on. So far, I'm really happy with the way it's coming along. Although, I will use a slightly different technique when I make the next one. Here, at the coast, the paper mache takes so long to dry, and requires so many layers on a structure this large. Next time, I think I will use fabric dipped in plaster for some of the layers. I was happy to use all that junk mail though. And the cost of materials couldn't be beat.
I'm excited to get going with the painting part of the project. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do, but then I never really am, I like to keep it rather spontaneous. I know that I want to make sure it stays arty and not cutesy, I have a real thing about my work looking cute - hate that! I think there is a fine line, since the piece is so feminine. Paint drips seem like a good grungy first step. I will show you more pictures as the process continues.
